ANOINTING OF THE SICK

Anointing of the Sick

"They drove out many demons, and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them." ˜Mark 6:13

THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK

"Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him" - James 5:14-15"

Throughout His ministry, Our Lord performed many miracles in which He gave physical healing to many of the sick and outcast in society. The healing which Christ gave to those who sought Him was not only meant to restore physical strength but also dispensed grace that helped strengthen the faith of the one who was healed.

Through the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick, the infirm are given the spiritual strength from the Holy Spirit through the anointing with the Oil of the Sick united with the prayers of the entire Church. Anointing of the Sick provides the sick to receive the healing of soul and body through the holy anointing as well as through the Sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion if physically possible.

Do not wait until the last minute to request this sacrament. The sick have a right to be able to seek and receive the graces of the sacrament at the earliest and best opportunity while they can consciously express their faith and desires and fully participate in the sacrament.

It is important for the Church to pray for the temporal and spiritual well-being of all the sick, especially parishioners and the friends and benefactors of our parish. If you have a family member or friend that you would like to have added to our parish sick list, please contact the Rectory so that they can be added.

VISITATION OF THE SICK
If someone you know is sick or in the hospital, please notify the Rectory. Arrangements will be made to bring the Sacraments to them.
